Having a healthy sense of confidence is so important!! It affects everything you do – from the decisions you make to the way you pursue the things you want most. Your self confidence also plays a huge role in the way you let others treat you and the way you treat others.  Whether you’re looking for confidence in the workplace, in making a big decision, or just in need of a self-esteem boost, here are 7 ways to achieve a sense of confidence that will lead to a happier you!

Fake it till you make it.  Your mind is so much more powerful than you think, so use it to your advantage! What you think is truly what you become. Cut out the negative talk and and always keep in mind that no one really knows what the heck they’re doing, we’re all just figuring it out as we go.

Dress the part. This is a big one in my book. It’s been proven that dressing the way you want to feel or be addressed can significantly boost your confidence. We dress how we want to feel because clothing really does have the power to turn us into what we want to become. So whether it’s high heels, red lipstick, or new lulu workout wear, put on whatever makes you feel best and act the part!

Take risks. Staying inside your comfort zone is easy and safe, but easy and safe doesn’t necessarily mean ‘happy’. Sometimes you have to push yourself to do things before you’re completely ready – because it’s true, nothing worth having comes easy! Taking risks requires confidence in yourself to know that even if you do fail, you’ll be able to use it as a learning experience and move on to the next challenge.

Know what you deserve. You know those friends who don’t take sh*t from anyone? Aim to be a little more like those people. When you let someone else’s idea of you affect your idea of yourself, you’re letting them win. You essentially teach people how you expect to be treated.

Love others. The first step is learning to love yourself. When a person is comfortable in their own skin, it’s easy and natural for them to love other people. The next step is loving, complimenting, and supporting others  – this is a true sign of a confident person.

Channel your favorite celeb/idol. The people I admire most are the ones who are who they are regardless of what anyone else thinks. There’s really nothing more attractive than a person who is comfortable in their own skin. Think of your favorite celebrities or biggest role models and how you can compare your best attribute to some of theirs.

Body language + posture. I am probably one of the shortest people you will ever meet, but I’ve never once let that stop me from feeling confident. The key to appearing poised and confident comes down to your posture and body language. Make eye contact, engage in conversation, talk with your hands, stand tall, don’t slouch, etc. Carry yourself with grace in all situations (a pair of 5 inch heels usually do the trick!).

Love this post!! Confidence is so important. My mom always told me to “fake it till you make it!!” It doesn’t mean being a fake person, but more or less pretending you have the confidence and eventually it becomes part of you and becomes second nature. Love that you shared that! 🙂
