In ADVICE + THOUGHTS

I don’t care who you are or what kind of music you listen to, there’s no denying Beyoncé holds the key to every girl’s heart when it comes to music. Regardless of what you’ve been through or are going through – you probably teared up and felt all kinds of girl power when listening to Lemonade. Just how ‘Irreplaceable’ single-handedly got us over that break up in 2006, Lemonade is doing it’s job by reminding all women ‘who run the world’. She took us through pain, heartbreak, anger, forgiveness, redemption, and happiness all in a matter of an hour.

7 lessons from the lyrics in Beyoncé’s Lemonade

Life ain’t always beautiful. It’s true, no matter how perfect someone’s life may appear, everyone’s dealing with their own kind of struggle. Even Beyonce. Behind closed doors things may look a lot differently than they do in the public eye (or on a Facebook wall). I mean come on, Jay-Z and Beyoncé? Didn’t see that one coming.

‘Something don’t feel right – because it ain’t right. Especially coming up after midnight. I smell your secret, and I’m not too perfect – to ever feel this worthless. How did it come down to this?”

Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable. There’s something so incredibly human when someone is open and honest about their pain. It allows others to relate and trust you and opens up your heart for true empathy and compassion. There’s a reason this album is making waves – it’s real and raw and that’s the kind of music people love.

“Nothing else ever seems to hurt like the smile on your face – when it’s only in my memory.”

Know your self worth. It’s easy to get caught up in the idea that someone is irreplaceable. But you should never feel the need to stay in a situation where you don’t feel appreciated and valued. Know your worth and make sure that someone knows what they have when they have you. And Becky may have good hair but she’s no Beyoncé.

“He only want me when I’m not there. He better call Becky with the good hair.”

Get your life in formation without the man, first.

If someone or something’s holding you back, put ‘everything he own in the box to the left’ and concentrate on YOU. You have to constantly make the decision to let go of the things that hinder your progress.

“And keep your money, I got my own. Got a bigger smile on my face, being alone.”

Success & happiness = the best revenge.

“I had my ups and downs, but I always find the inner strength to pull myself up. I was served lemons, but I made lemonade.”

Forgiveness does not mean weakness. She sings about how people are people – we’re imperfect and make mistakes. And that giving someone a second chance doesn’t mean you’re weak, it’s the ability to show unconditional love.

“They say true love’s the greatest weapon –  to win the war caused by pain. But every diamond has imperfections, but my love’s too pure to watch it chip away.”

True love. Broken things can be fixed and the bond of a promise between two people is a powerful thing.

“Nothing real can be threatened – true love breathes salvation back into me. With every tear came redemption. And my torture became my remedy.”
