In ADVICE + THOUGHTS, FASHION

I love warm weather and I’ll be sad to see it go.. but I’m not gonna sit here and act like my roommates and I didn’t just order pumpkin candles, a fall doormat, pumpkin lights, and plan out our halloween costumes. Tomorrow is September 1st, which means time to put away the sundresses and pull out all your fall layers. I’m headed to New York Fashion Week one week from today, so I stopped in to see my friends Kelsey & Taylor at Trunk Club to style some outfits for my trip and the upcoming season.

The looks we put together..

#1  – Thigh high boots

Boots / Jeans / Top

Here’s the deal. I’ve spent the last 2  years looking for the best over-the-knee/thigh-high boots for petite women, and have yet to find a pair I love more than these Hiline boots by Stuart Weitzman. I loved them last year, but couldn’t get myself to drop the $$. So I waited another year.. tried on a bunch of different pairs.. and finally decided it was time to invest in them. I’ll definitely be wearing them all fall/winter and many more seasons to come. They actually stay up on my legs – unlike most boots like this – because of the stretch suede material and ties in the back. I styled these same boots in 4 different outfits in the images above to show you all the different ways you can wear them. I’m about 5′ tall and I love where these hit on my leg. If you’re taller, they won’t come up quite as high, but the shaft size goes up a little bit depending on your shoe size. These also come in 5 other colors! If you have any other questions before ordering just DM me on Instagram or comment in this blog post, I know they’re a big purchase so it helps to know all the details before you buy. These will sell out very quickly, so if you want them order them right here soon! Like I said, these are by far the best boots I’ve tried on, but if you’re looking for a more affordable options, here are similar options (the first ones in the widget are the ones I’m wearing):

#2 – Velvet and lace

Dress / Pumps / Purse

This velvety slip dress by Alice and Olivia is the perfect dress to style with a chunky cardigan when it gets a little colder. I love the lingerie-inspired trend when paired with a sweater or even layered with a tight black turtle neck underneath.

Sam Edelman Halan Pointy Toe Pumps: frayed fringe on the edges of these satin pumps

Valentino Velvet Rockstud Spike Bag: how pretty is this velvety studded Valentino for winter??

#3 – Destroyed denim

Jeans / BagHeels / Sweater

If I’m buying jeans, they’re usually always tight-fitting, high-waisted, and dark. But Kelsey talked me into these extra-destroyed McGuire jeans. They’re still high-waisted (which I love) and super torn up (a big trend right now), but had a looser fit through the legs. We cuffed them to wear with these heels but they also look so cute with flat sandals or sneakers. AND they make your but look good 😉 I usually wear a size 24 and that’s what I ordered in these, so they fit true to size. Rag & Bone Block Sweater: love this blue block sweater by Rag and Bone – slim fitting & silky-ish feel.

#4 – Conservative Tweed

Dress / Blush Heels

This dress is great for work or for interviews.  I love the polished look of two pieces with a crinkled-silk top and the flouncy tweed skirt with a ruffled hem. Feminine and sweet – the size 0 was a little big on me (I usually wear a 00). Paired with blush pink Steve Madden heels. These Steve Madden Carrson heels are my favorite shoe – I have them in 3 colors.

#5 – Jersey Dress

Strappy Jersey T by Alexander Wang Dress (wearing XS)

This dress is AMAZING. The thread-thin straps, and sexy back make this both sporty and sophisticated. A must have dress for fall to pair with a leather jacket or chunky sweater.
