In HAIR AND MAKEUP

I can’t even begin to imagine how many hours of my life I’ve spent washing, brushing, blow drying and styling my hair. I timed it the other day – 13 minutes alone to just blow dry this mane! Going through that process everyday with 2 feet of hair can be pretty time consuming, so you can imagine why I’m such a big fan of dry shampoo!

I recently wrote a post about how I keep my hair healthy and shiny (read it here) with the most important tip being to leave your hair alone as much as possible by avoiding heat tools, excessive brushing, teasing, and blow drying. My favorite thing about dry shampoo is that it give your hair a break from those harmful methods. Today I’m partnering with Sephora to go over my top 5 dry shampoo products, the benefits of each one, and which one I use most often:

Best for Volume: Bumble & Bumble’s Prêt-à-Powder is hands down the best when it comes to adding extra volume while eliminating second-day hair grease. I put a little bit of powder in my hands and also some in the roots of my hair. I tousle it around a bit and flip my head over a few times and this make my hair veryyyy big and voluminous, I love it. Also – this bottle is the perfect travel-size.

Best for Post-Gym: Not all dry shampoos are made to combat sweat, but Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo does a really good job when it comes to post-gym hair. It absorbs sweat, oil, and odor AND a time-release fragrance that delivers a fresh and clean scent.

Best for Brunettes: Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo is completely clear when you spray it on, so even girls with jet-black hair are in the clear with this one. When it sprays on it might feel a little damp, but don’t worry, give it a few minutes to soak up the excess oil and you’re hair will feel freshly washed. (PS – all of the other options are good for blondes because the white-ish residue actually helps the color look not as brassy when it’s greasy!).

Most Natural Ingredients: If you’re looking for a dry shampoo with the least amount of chemicals, Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk is your product. It’s formulated with oat milk to soothe and protect and corn and rice starches to absorb oil and is completely free of parabens, sodium chloride, sulfates, and colorants.

Best for Blowouts: The Drybar stylists came up with this one to prolong your blowout and keep it looking fresh. It leaves a little bit of a powdery texture – some people like it, some people don’t – Detox Dry Shampoo.

Favorite Overall: The Bumble & Bumble Prêt-à-Powder is my favorite powder based dry shampoo I’ve ever used. The Living Proof Perfect Hair Day is my favorite aerosol form dry shampoo.

How to use Dry Shampoo:
Shake well and make sure to hold the can at least 10 inches away from DRY hair, then apple it section by section in a sweeping motion. Wait 30 seconds for powders to activate and cleanse, then massage your hair with your fingers or brush it out.

Thanks for stopping by, let me know which one is your favorite! xo, liv

Interesting, I’ve never thought about using dry shampoo before. I may have to try it out and see how it works with my routine.
