In FASHION

This past weekend we attended the 29th annual Snowball at the Field Museum – Chicago’s premier black tie event hosted by the Junior Council, an affiliated organization of the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. All proceeds from the event benefitted the Lurie Children’s Hospital and helped raise awareness #ForTheKids.

The night was incredible and I had such a blast with a few of my favorite Chicago girls – Ali of Those White Walls, Ashley of SedBona, and Lauren of Lake Shore Lady. Getting all dolled up for the event was so much fun – it’s not everyday you get to wear beaded floor length gowns! We started the night out with cocktails at the J. Parker before the event (one of my favorite rooftops in Chicago) and then headed to the Field Museum for live music by Rod Tufcurls and the Bench Press, bites from Chicago’s best restaurants, drinks, and dancing with 2,300+ other Chicagoans!

What I wore…

Alyce Paris Gown Style #6748 (in charcoal/rosewater)  | Sorrelli Swarovski Crystal Teardrop Earrings | Similar Metallic Rose Gold Box Clutch | Similar Faux Fur Stole | Hair Pin | Lips: Rebel Lipstick with Currant Liner| Amy Aiello Photography

I couldn’t have been happier with the color, design, and detail of this Alyce Paris gown. The outer layer tulle was a charcoal/lavender/grey and the lace underlay was a soft blush tone. The crystal beading that covered the bodice was so gorgeous and sparkly and the color of the dress seemed to changed throughout the night in different lighting! I’ve always loved mermaid gowns and this sweetheart neckline, fitted bodice, and layered tulle skirt with horsehair trim made up the perfect dress for a formal winter affair. I pinned my hair up on the right side with bobby pins and this pin I found at Nordstrom. A fuchsia lip, metallic clutch, and faux fur stole completed the look! Use the Alyce Paris store locator on their site to find a store near you that carries their gowns for our next black tie event!

What he wore…

J. Toor outfitted Conner for the event and it was such a cool experience – they made him look so fancy (!!). As much as I love women’s fashion, the whole bespoke/custom menswear pieces were so fun to learn about. We had the chance to meet the owners and have a private fitting + styling appointment in house where we worked together to dress him from head to toe. We chose a deep blue colored tux – I love how the blue was so different from the tradition black and the high luster in the bamboo cloth made the jacket so unique. The other pieces: a deep blue handwoven silk tie from Italy, blue sapphire and gunmetal buttons and cufflinks, a Swarovski crystal pocket square, and this incredible peacock feather woven cummerbund (yes that’s how you spell it apparently).

For all you girls looking for something unique to get your man this Valentine’s day, J. Toor is the place to go! I think you’d be surprised how much he’d love a private consultation to discuss his personal style, the fine fabrics, take his measurements and design bespoke garments crafted specifically for him. Plus, what’s better than a well-dressed man, am I right??

A few more pictures from the night…

We spent the night dancing, eating, sipping champagne, and enjoying the company of our fun group. I definitely recommend attending next year’s Snowball – it’s an amazing time and such a good opportunity to support a wonderful cause and network with other young professionals in the city. Thank you for putting on such a great event, Junior Council!
