In ADVICE + THOUGHTS

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved everything about weddings. In elementary school I had a binder I’d plan little imaginary weddings in. I’d search bridal magazines to find the dress, color scheme, flowers, then put it all together and show it off to my mom and grandma. So I guess it’s no surprise the first job I landed out of college was in the wedding industry. My recent visit to Bella Bianca Bridal Couture evoked nostalgic feelings as I walked through the rows of white dresses reminiscing on my days as a bridal consultant at Twirl! Miss Stella York used to be one of my favorite lines to put my brides in, so when they reached out to me about promoting the new styles launching in their bridesmaid line I was so excited!

Sorella Vita bridesmaids collection is an extension of wedding designer Stella York. This has always been one of my favorite collections because of their color choices, glamorous fabrics, and feminine silhouettes (and price point!). In this post, I’m showing you 3 different ways to incorporate their newest collection: Nouveau Sequin. I love this new line because of it’s Art-Deco inspired look – which is a big trend in bridal lately. I’m a big fan of incorporating subtle touches of metallics into your wedding day. Whether it’s with rows of champagne Chiavari chairs, metallic votive candles, a trail of sparklers to end the night, or a couple Nouveau Sequin bridesmaid dresses spread throughout your bridal party.

I’ve always loved the look of a monochromatic bridal party, but the more I see it done, the more I start to fall in love with the mixing-and-matching idea. It’s so unique and gives you the chance to get a little creative on your wedding day. Plus, the sequin dresses are a great option for how to get your maid and/or matron of honor to stand out and have her moment to ‘shine’. There are so many ways you can mix & match, but for this post, I’m showing you three different color scheme combinations that incorporate the Nouveau Sequin gowns.

Feminine Champagne & Blush

It’s hard to beat the classic look of a bridal party dressed in champagne & blush. It’s sweet, feminine, and so romantic! I love the way the Art-Deco pattern pairs gorgeously with the Stella lace and chiffon fabrics. If you’re mixing fabrics, silhouettes, and necklines, it’s important to stick with a consistent color scheme when styling your bridal party. The three dresses I’ve paired in this combination from left to right: 8431 in Blush, 9018 in Rose Gold and 8689 in Rose Gold.

Classic Neutrals

Taupe is definitely the dominant color in my wardrobe, so I was all about styling a bridal party around this hue.  It’s a universally flattering color and looks beautiful when paired with a pop of sparkle. I like the idea of mixing cool tones (taupe/grey) with warmer tones (gold/beige) to create a neutral palette so you can incorporate both gold & silver accents into the decor/accessories. Side note: when you’re mixing styles, it usually makes sense for that BM to wear a hairstyle that works best with that particular neckline. I honestly don’t have a strong opinion on bridesmaids all doing the same thing with their hair. I think sometimes it’s safer to let your girls choose the hairstyle they feel most comfortable in.. but that might be because I’ve just seen way too many heinous updos? For anything v-neck or strapless I prefer hair down, and with halters and sleeves – hair up. The three dresses I’ve paired in this combination from left to right: 8920 in Stardust, 8872 in Vintage Rose and 9060 in Rose Gold.

Metallic Cool Tones

The platinum Nouveau Sequin gown is a stunner. I love the idea of incorporating this dress into a winter wedding (like NYE!). This combination is more of a modern look and is the perfect mix for a bride with bold taste.  For this party, I paired cool toned lace, sequins, and tulle together to create a glamorous but uniform palette. I love the idea of mixing empire, a-line, and trumpet silhouettes in a bridal party. This fitted tulle dress compliments the sequin dresses so well!  The four dresses featured in this combination from left to right: 8834 in Platinum, 8860 in Thistle, 8684 in Platinum and 9062 in Sapphire.

There are so many factors that go into selecting the right dresses to outfit your party in: comfort, price, time of year, style of your gown, body type, skin tone, etc. But, the most important thing is that YOU love them. Have fun and use your creativity to put together a bridal party that will compliment your wedding gown perfectly.  To find these Sorella Vita gowns in person – visit the Sorella Vita store locator to find a retailer near you! So helpful! I love these gowns. But I’m wondering which two colors do you think would work best in combination with the Noveau Sequin gown (9018) in Rose Gold. Either Blush, Vintage Rose or Dusty Rose?
    Thank you!

      Hi Lauren,

These are bridemaids gowns I’ve decided to use for my wedding in rose gold and I’ve paired with vintage rose. The blush was too light for my taste.

I agree – my MOHs are wearing the Nouveau Sequin in Rose Gold. I was going with the vintage rose but all my bridesmaids liked the soft luxe material so we ended up going with Stardust which appeared to be the same color.
