I’ve been wanting to do an apartment refresh for spring ever since we took the Christmas tree down in January, so it feels good to finally have the place all spruced up for a new season 🧚🏼♀️With all the time we’ll be spending at home for the next little bit, it’s the the perfect time to dedicate a couple days to spring cleaning.
Before I started on refreshing the decor, I spent an entire Saturday purging the apartment ~ which was life changing. When your home is organized, it really does wonders for your mental state too.
Ever since we hired Horderly to come in and organize our entire apartment (bedroom organization + kitchen organization), we’ve been pretty good about keeping it in the same condition. They taught us about the ‘one in one out method’, how to roll/fold out clothes to fit more in our drawers, and how to be more selective about what we decide to keep. New York City living is tight…so there isn’t much room for clutter or things we don’t use often. That’s something I’ve learned to love about living here though, it’s a much more minimal life where you’re surrounded by the things you truly love and need.
We went through our closets and drawers and donated anything we couldn’t remember wearing in the last several months. . Here are a few other small things that made a big impact on updating the apartment for a new season:
New sheets/bedding ~ an easy way to update your bedroom for the spring is to swap out your sheets! I switched out these luxe solid gray sheets from winter with a springtime stripe. It added a fun pattern and brightened the room up a bit. My favorite thing about Brooklinen bedding is the quality you get for the price. The sheets are SO NICE to sleep on. Right now Brooklinen is offering $20 off an order of over $100 right now with code OliviaR20 🙂 Here are the exact links to everything on the bed:
- Graphite an Steel Oxford Stripe Luxe Sheet Bundle
- My All Season Down Comforter
- Luxe Duvet Cover
- Plush Down Pillows
*My velvet throw pillows are from Kathy Kuo home, love these!
Branches & Grass ~ This is an easy (and affordable) way to bring a little bit of the outside inside. I live across the street from a little flower market that was selling these budding branches and dried wheat grass. I love the neutral colors and how they look in these vases. I typically do fresh flowers, but branches and grass don’t die so it’s much more cost effective bc they last longer!
Update the photos in your frames ~ This makes such a difference! We live in a world where so many of our memories live on a screen, but one of my favorite things to do is print my pictures out for frames and organize them into photobooks. I live right next to a CVS where I was able to airdrop the photos directly from my phone to their photo machine and printed them out instantly. Also, I’ve used Artifact Uprising in the past for my photobooks and I love them.
Candles ~ One of the easiest ways to make your home feel more inviting is to add candles to each room. For spring, I’m using Brooklinen’s AM to PM set of mini candles. I love the size of these because they don’t take up too much space on a bedside table, bathroom sink, or shelves.

Hoping this post gives you a few easy ideas for how to do a little apartment/home refresh for springtime ~ it’s only 4 days away 🌸Dedicate one day this week/weekend while you’re home to spring clean your apartment, you’ll feel so much better once you do. Things have felt pretty eerie and uncertain lately, but just want to say thank you a million times to those keeping things running at the grocery stores, banks, hospitals, pharmacies, etc. Praying for those affected, feeling anxious, and anyone at risk. Let’s all do our part by continuing to stay hopeful, positive, and informed ❤️
