The second half of my trip to Finland was spent exploring Turku – Finland’s oldest city! It was just a 2 hour train ride away from Helsinki. [Read about the first part of the trip here!].

We arrived to our first activity and were handed helmets and and harnesses – we spent the next couple hours climbing through obstacle courses hundreds of feet in the air and zip lining through the trees. The courses were pretty hard at some points but this was definitely a good bonding experience for the group, haha.

The Turku Castle was one of my favorite things in Turku – the largest surviving medieval building in the Finland (founded in the 13th century). We could’ve explored this place for hours – the architecture was incredible! And of course we had to play dress up in the medieval clothes (I’m wearing a kid’s medieval two-piece, haha SEE trends do recycle!).

We took a boat tour on the Aura River and had the loveliest lunch – they’ve got to start doing something like this in Chicago! We ate all kinds of delicious cheeses, meats, and breads while our guide talked about the history of the city.

The Turku Cathedral is the Mother Church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland and considered to be the most important religious building in Finland.

We did some beer tasting and cake tasting… (delicious award winning ‘Kiss My Turku blueberry chocolate cake!)…

The final night was spent on a dinner cruise on the Baltic Sea to Loistokari Island. The cruise ship took us to a tiny little island where we listened to live music and ate a delicious home cooked dinner on picnic tables. We had the perfect last night drinking champagne and enjoying dinner on the water.

Love this post! Question: Do you feel that you were warm enough during your trip? I’ll be visiting next month and am worried about warmth!

I brought a lot of layers! Scarves, raincoats, cardigans. And definitely walking shoes 🙂 Have a fun trip!
