In BEAUTY, skincare

I never used to think too much about skincare until this year when I started noticing signs that reminded me I’m not 21 years old anymore. So I panicked, researched all the best skincare tips and ways to prevent signs of aging, and started following a routine that worked for my skin. I’m partnering with Kiehl’s to show you exactly what I do to take care of my skin at night and why it’s one of the most important habits I’ve picked up in my 20s.

Your skin’s recuperating abilities are their strongest at night when you’re sleeping – so prepping your skin before you pass out is crucial. After following this night time routine for just a few weeks, I noticed my skin looking brighter and healthier with less dry skin and breakouts. I also found myself putting on less makeup in the mornings – which has made early morning photoshoots easier (and less puffy!). Here are the steps I take from the minute I arrive home at night to the moment I close my eyes to sleep..

Step 1: Hydrate

Drink a full glass of water right when you walk in the door. Drinking at least 8 glasses a day will wash out toxins, hydrate, plump and give your skin a glow.

Step 2: Cleanse

Wash your face & makeup off completely with Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil and warm water. It easily removes dirt, oil, and makeup and leaves your skin soft and balanced. The lavender smell is perfect for unwinding before bed.

Step 3: Oils

Cover your entire face in a thin layer of Midnight Recovery Concentrate (2-3 drops). This serum helps your skin restore itself overnight and improves firmness and elasticity. The lavender essential oil scent is so good!

Step 4: Moisturize

Apply a layer of Super Multi-Corrective Cream evenly to skin over top of the oil.  This product is the best facial moisturizer I’ve found yet – I love the way it smells and how it doesn’t feel too heavy on my skin. This anti-aging moisturizer corrects fine lines, smooths, & firms. I use this for both morning and night.

Step 5: Eye Cream

Lightly apply the Midnight Recovery Eye to the skin around your eyes. Be really gentle when applying around this delicate area. It reduces puffiness, dark under-eye circles, and lines. I usually only apply this at night.

2 Nights / Week:
Using a Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate twice a week will accelerate skin cell turnover to reveal new skin – which will reveal a more even skin tone. You can do this every night, but I’ve seen great results from just twice a week.
I use this mask 2x per week – once during the week & once on the weekend. It draws out dirt, toxins, and oil that clog your pores and minimizes pores (let it sit for 10 minutes).

A few other skincare tips I swear by:
*Aim for at least 8 hours of sleep
*Sleep on a silk pillowcase for hair and skin health
*Always  sleep with a full glass of water next to your bed & drink it right when you wake up.
*This dark spot corrector works great on old scars and discolored spots on your skin
*I sleep with Vaseline on my lips every night – your lips need love too!

    Hi Olivia!
Let me start off by saying I absolutely love your style and you truly are an inspiration! And I love your blog posts! I had a question to ask you. I read your blogs every week and I saw your blog about Kiehls night routine. So I bought those items and I love them! Do you have any suggestions for morning routines before putting on makeup? I notice that I have heavy, visible lines under my eyes and no matter how much concealer I put on, they are still visible. Any suggestions? I would love any advice!

    Hi Olivia-

I have used Kiehl’s face wash for a year or two now and love it but have NEVER done a night routine beyond washing my face. I was wondering … when you use the Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate twice a week, do you use it in addition to or in place of the Midnight Recovery Concentrate?

Thanks in advance for your advice! I’m a new reader and love your posts! 🙂
