Can’t believe I’m saying this, but September is in two weeks which means it’s actually time to start thinking about outfits for fall! I love all things fall – especially the fashion, but I am not ready to say goodbye to Chicago summer. Because we all know what that means, right my fellow Chiberians? Hibernation. In this post I’m holding on to summer by styling a few warm-weather pieces and transitional items from Express.
First, I just want to say how excited I am to be an Express Petites partner for 2017. Express is a brand I’ve worn for years that’s always aligned with my style, so this is such a cool opportunity for me. Now that they offer items specifically made for petite womenย (5’4″ and under), it’s just made me love the brand even more. It’s so nice to order something offline for once and know it’s actually going to fit! Everything I’m wearing in this post is available inย petite and regular sizing.
Details about this outfit: this is my favorite cardigan I own right now. I love it so much I bought it in the grey color too (and just bought one for my mom!). The petite sizing hits at the perfect spot on my waist and the sleeves are the right length. The material is soft, the neutral color is perfect, and the ruffles are so cute. So what I’m saying is, you need it. These ripped jeans – they’re stretchy, high-waisted, and are 50% off right now. I rolled them under a little bit because my heels went up high around my ankle – but I might cut the bottoms off a little because the ends are frayed so you can’t tell. This faux suede purse is a great neutral option for fall that will go with everything & the powder tank I’m wearing comes in a few other colors and is a great staple item. I love this simple gold & crystal necklace because I can wear it with pretty much everything.
And can we all just take a moment to admire how beautiful the Chicago river-walk is in these shots? I was shooting with my good friend Felipe the other night and everywhere we walked was so photogenic. It’s the best area in the city to admire the Chicago River. You can eat, shop, walk, grab a drink, or just relax while enjoying the water. There are a bunch of restaurants and bars (City Winery) along the river. And if you’re looking for something more adventurous, you have the options to kayak or hop on a tour boat. The architectural boat tour is a must – I’m going for the second time with my family this weekend! Thanks for reading guys, links to everything are below ๐

Thank you so much for this post!!! I just received my order on these petite ripped jeans and I LOVE THEM. They hit in all the right places and they’re the perfect length for me. I hope Express can get petites in store too. And I love the high waisted. I hope they can have more of a selection! xoxo
Also, what size did you order in these? The 4 fits me, just trying to gage for other pant/jean sizes when you post!
Hi Emma! So glad they fit you perfectly, I love them too. I’m wearing a size 0 Petite. I typically always list the size I’m wearing next to the time under the images in my posts! Looking forward to seeing the new things coming out this fall/winter for Express petites ๐ thanks for reading -Olivia

Olivia, do you happen to know how the petite jeans fit differently than Express’s Regular denim that is “short” length?
Hi Allie! I’ve only ever worn their petite jeans – but I’m assuming the crotch length of the petite jeans is shorter and that the length is also a little bit shorter as well. Sorry I’m not much help here!
