This review is long overdue. I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to try the Dyson Hair Dryer, but after years of friends and readers asking what my thoughts were on it, I decided it was time to pull the trigger.
I’ll admit, the price-tag has never been appealing…especially since my other hot tools (curling iron / straightener) are both under $30 and work perfectly fine. But with nearly 2 feet of hair on my head and (too) many hours of my life spent blow drying and styling, I figured it couldn’t hurt to see what all the hype was about.
[For reference when reading this post] my hair type is considered ‘fine’ but I have a lot of it. The combination of my fine hair texture and bleach/coloring over the years is what gives my hair so much natural body. It’s also what causes my hair to tangle so easily 😵 It’s naturally straight when it dries and the ‘body’ you see along my forehead/hairline is a natural cowlick (thanks dad).
DYSON HAIR DRYER REVIEW
1. It cuts down drying time
It’s very powerful. Dries my hair completely in about 12 minutes (compared to 20). It’s SO powerful. Tip: I always blow dry my hair upside down for the first 5+ minutes after letting it air dry for a while – this helps with volume in the roots bc they dry upwards.
2. It’s way quieter than any other blow dryer
I can hold a conversation while getting ready. It’s also really lightweight so your arm won’t get tired while drying.
3. It increases smoothness and shine
After drying, my hair is noticeably smoother, shinier, and less frizzy. No flyaways or frizz whatsoever.
4. Magnetic attachments that are easy to clean
One thing that’s always been annoying with other blow dryers is how hard the filter is to clean when dust/hair gets sucked into it. With the Dyson, the filter twists off so easily for monthly cleaning. Also, it comes with all the attachments (a smoothing nozzle, styling concentrator, and diffuser) that all attach magnetically.
5. Conner likes it
He may or may not have strongly influenced this purchase 😂 So not just for women, haha
Where I Ordered:
I ordered my Dyson from Nordstrom (you can find the exact link here – I got it in white). Nordstrom is always my most trusted place to order pretty much anything just because I’m so comfortable with their ordering/shipping/returning process, plus they have a huge variety of products for every one and every occasion.
1. It’s expensive
Definitely a con.
2. The cord is annoying
The extra-long cord is great if you don’t have an outlet close by, but it’s heavier and bulkier than an average hair dryer’s. It doesn’t retract, and it lacks a tie for easy storage.
Overall, an incredible hairdryer. I’ve officially been converted.
Thank you to Nordstrom for partnering with me on this post!
