Ever since my college cheerleading days I’ve gravitated towards bold lip colors like bright red and fuchsia. I was so used to wearing those colors with my uniform that I’d wear them all the time with my everyday outfits too. While those colors might have looked good down on the basketball court, I’ve recently started to feel like those colors look a little harsh to me. I find myself moving away from bold colors and towards more neutral shades and glosses when it comes to lipstick. I always used to say I didn’t like the way neutral lip colors looked, but I also used to say I’d never convert from flares to skinny jeans – now it’s the only kind of jeans I wear 😂It’s funny how our beauty and fashion preferences change over the years.
The new Laura Mercier Rouge Essentiel Silky Créme Lipstick just launched at Bloomingdales and is full of great neutral shades that work with anything I wear. These colors create a more natural look and have a creamy finish that keeps my lips hydrated. I found a couple new colors I’ve been wearing, but this the Nude Nouveau in the pictures above is my favorite. I wore these shades a lot during my Charleston trip and with outfits in New York this week as the weather warms up. I’m finally starting to bring out my spring closet!
The goal of this new Laura Mercier collection is to inspire women to embrace their individual beauty and find their own personal elegance. This shift to more neutral shades gives me more confidence to embrace my natural coloring and put my most confident face forward. I’ve applied this ‘less is more’ concept to my entire beauty routine lately and have been taking it easy on the foundation, powder, and eyeliner lately. I love neutral lip colors this time of year 🙂
